As you know, I LOVE 1- COFFEE, 2-Pumpkin spice everything.... And honestly, as basic bitch as it sounds, it's one of my favourite things about autumn (other than crisp mountain bike rides, of course). Anywayyys, desperate to find a way not spend a million dollars on crap-filled lattés this fall, I got to experimenting on how to make my own. And surprisingly, it's actually super easy.

You into it?

Here you go:

STEP ONE: the spice

First step is to make the actual Pumpkin Pie Spice (of course, you can buy this, but chances are you already have everything you need to make your own and it will likely take less time than it would to go to the grocery store...)

Mix together...

  • 3 tbs cinnamon
  • 2 tbs ginger
  • 2 tbs nutmeg
  • 1.5 teaspoons allspice
  • 1.5 teaspoons cloves

So then put that in a nice little jar or something and keep it for baking... and coffee, of course.

STEP TWO: the coffee

Now there's always the opportunity here to make it your own a bit. But I'll tell you what I do!

I use a percolator to make mine, and instead of filling it with just coffee, I add a tbs of my pumpkin spice mix. I don't really have a fancy latté machine at the moment, so I just heat up milk on the stove (any type of milk works: cow, almond, cashew, soy, etc.).

Then, once your coffee is ready, mix a tbs of unrefined sugar, your coffee, and hot milk. I also like to add a splash of hot water, so it's not quite so rich, but do what you like.

And that's it guys, it's seriously that easy! And oh so good. Do let me know what you think when you make it! I SO look forward to hearing from you guys.

xx Jessica
